I need your opinion.

Sunday, April 29th, 2007

This morning i’ve been having a bit of a play with Photoshop. I was playing around with textures and brushes to create something unique. I’d consider this art, but would you?I like what i’ve made.. I’d just love to know what you think. Please please please leave a comment below this info. Do you think it’s too over the top/do you absolutely love it/ or do you just plain old hate what I’ve done. YOUR comment would be appreciated.

Nick & Jacinda

Sunday, April 29th, 2007

I’ve just finished going through the photos from Jay and Nick’s Wedding and I guess the first thoughts in my mind are that I think these photos look more like a whole portfolio, rather than images from just one wedding!

My day started with going to Jacinda’s house and photographing the girls having random fun. I soon learned that the bridesmaids were going to be a hoot to photograph. Every time I lifted the camera to my eye.. the bridesmaids would do something a bit crazy.

The ceremony location depended on the weather.. as it was rather wooly outside they decided to switch the location from Nick’s Families garden at Hillgrove to the Hillgrove Hall instead. I didn’t mind as it was alot warmer there and the lighting wasn’t too shabby either!
As soon as I drove into Hillgrove I noticed that old car. We were due to just do the bridal party photos at Bakers Creek Bridge, but I reccomended we stop for a photo op at the car. I love the colours that the rust adds to the photos. We then went to the bridge, where the boys decided to play a game of “let’s see who can throw a rock closest to the edge of the water”. Happy times.

A few shout outs. The flowers were beautifully crafted by Rosemerin Florist, The hair was magically made gorgeous by “Urban Hair”, The ceremony was conducted by Stephen Goldsmith & the DJ who entertained the guests was DJ DRU. Reception was at The Armidale Golf Club and the photos were done by James Day just in case you didn’t know. :-) Everyone I’ve just mentioned I would reccomend without any problem!

I also saw 2 of my past brides & grooms were there too. Kristy & Derek Sky and also Kate and Andrew Byrne.

I’ll stop talking and just show you the photos! That’s what you came here to see.

I have 11 things to tell you.

Thursday, April 26th, 2007

Hey Guys, I have 11 things to tell you,
1. Thank you to everyone that has emailled me in the past week saying such nice things about my photography. It really lifts my day.. and being so sick in the last week, those emails really helped. I still have a cough, but one more email and who knows? :-)
My email address is james@jamesdayphotography.com if you have misplaced it!

2. It’s confirmed that we will be appearing at the Coffs Harbour, Tamworth and Armidale Bridal Expo’s. If you know me, or want to just say g’day please come down to it and please do stop and actually talk to me. I’m not as scary as I seem!

3. The very talented Meegan will be joining me for more and more weddings as time goes on. After seeing her photos today from Phil and Amy’s wedding I beleive that she will be great to have around as a second shooter.

4. We will be offering a few different style albums in the very near future. At the moment, the style that we make is the Magazine Style album. We will be moving into doing bigger and perhaps better album styles which I will keep you updating about. We’re currently in negotiation with an album design company to get this new type of album for our clients.

5. I have the coolest clients ever. It never ceases to amaze me just how awesomely cool the people are that I have as clients. You guys rock and I’d bend over backwards for you all!

6. Lauren’s coming back in July. Oh yeah.. so happy right now!

7. I’m getting a new logo. No one has seen it yet (ok, a couple of people have had a sneak peak) It’s “funky like you”, according to Annabelle from Storm Creative. Annabelle is the universe’s most talented Designer. Yes folks, you heard it here first.

8. A new website and blog is on the way to compliment the new logo. It’s going to be state of the art with lots of cool features that will have you coming her more often than you currently do.. We’re expecting for the website to be done in the very near future… and to celebrate this there are going to be some ginormous giveaways. Everything from T-Shirts to 4 figure prizes.

9. Speaking of the Blog, We keep setting new records with the amount of people reading the Blog. I find it hard to believe the figures.

10. I have a media pass for Australian Fashion Week starting sunday and I can’t decide whether to go or not. Maybe I should have another Poll?

11. There should only have been 10 points as I have nothing more to say.

Ciao.

Michaela & Nick E Sesh!

Monday, April 23rd, 2007

******I just need to say hello to Narelle Murray! You know who you are and I know how often you look at this blog! You’ve been dobbed in!!!!******

Currently i’m trying to recover from an absolutely hectic fun weekend. I attended my Church’s conference called Electrolight ‘07. It was such a special thing to be a part of. So many people’s lives were changed and I can say for certain that I feel like a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders. The other exciting thing that happened on the weekend was Michaela & Nick’s E Sesh! We travelled to a property near the blue hole which is Nick’s groomsman’s parents property. There were so many great photo opportunities out there.. and Michaela and Nick surprised themselves and really settled into being photographed. I know they were both quite worried about being photographed as they’ve never done anything like that before.. but at the end of it Michaela was beaming with Energy and Joy and exclaimed that she couldn’t beleive just how much fun she had! I’m pretty stoked about that. I try and make the shoots as much fun as possible which helps us get awesome photos. Nick and Michaela are getting married on the 17th of November this year and are having their reception at Petersons Winery. Last time I was there was for Paula and Kesha’s Wedding. Wow.. what a venue!!!! (if you can afford it)

Presenting Michaela & Nick!

Jason & Amy’s Engagement Sesh!

Thursday, April 19th, 2007

Well firstly, what a nerve racking experience photographing photographers! Jason and Amy both work for a Photographer here in town, Doug Sylvester who runs Viewpoint Photographics.
I’ll be photographing their wedding this July 7th. 7/7/07! But before we can do that we have to get them used to my crazy style and create some gorgeous photos for them in the engagement session.
Jason and I go way back! J & I used to play in a band together called Ignition, which was a Christian Contemporary Music Band.. Jason was the drummer.. I was the Lead Singer of sorts.
Also, Jason is Kesha’s brother. Kesha is the groom from the famous “Jumping Shot”, and who I photographed with Paula recently with a few local photographers.

Anyhow.. onto busines.. tonight was such a hoot. Jason and I planned it late last night and kept it a secret from Amy. I picked Amy up when she thought Jason was going to pick her up… and Jason was running a little late setting up the romantic setting out at the blue hole.. so I had to find some way to fill in 20 minutes. So we went to the post office, to McDonalds drivethrough and also spoke to cows on the side of the road half way to the Blue Hole. I was trying to convince her that the surprise was that Jason was dressed up as one of the cows and she had to try and find him in the field. That didn’t quite work. Bummer!
Anyhow.. we met Jason out at the Blue Hole and he had a table set for two with champagne and nibblies and chocolate. You are a serious romantic J!

Anyhow.. here is my effort and choosing a few funky ones out in a hurry before I call Lauren for her birthday! Happy Birthday Lauren!!!
