Karen & Gerard (wedding)

Tuesday, October 30th, 2007

Karen & Gerard were married in The Hunter Valley on Saturday. I was lucky enough to be chosen as their photographer! Karen was a bridesmaid at Jacqui Latimer’s wedding last year and liked the relaxed style that I was able to offer. + we also created one of the most kick ass awesome weddings albums for Jacqui.
Karen wanted everything to be perfect, and I know that she must have gotten to the end of the day completely satisfied because it was a beautiful wedding.
Oh, and on a personal note, I got 2 meals! WOOHOOO!!!!

Karen looking mighty fine!

For those of you wondering what i’ve done here.. I’ve merged two pics together. One pic was obviously of them in the vineyard, and hte other pic was of bark on the trees outside the rooms where the girls were getting ready. I just saw it and thought it might make a nice texture..and it surely did.

A relaxed portrait of the bridal party.

I love the way the lines from the road lead into the shot.

and another relaxed bridal party shot.

Oh, and they had these really cool fireworks just after cutting the cake. It was a big surprise for everyone. Nice touch I reckon.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for allowing me to be with you on such a special day. I wish you both a life filled with happiness together.

Matt & Rach

Monday, October 29th, 2007

I quite seriously couldn’t think of a more fun group of people to spend the day with if I tried. Sorry no offence to my friends, but these guys seriously rock. Some of you may remember their engagement shoot on Bondi Beach earlier in the year. It was great to meet so many people at their wedding who had seen the images and loved them. A guy even told me that he took the pics off the net and put David Beckham’s head over Matt’s. Interesting idea!
Rachel & Matt found me from Julie at the Pavillion (where they had their reception) when they told her they were looking for something a bit beyond the norm.. she recommended me.

Matt got flowers delivered.. and wrote the sweetest card! Rach was fighting back the tears (luckily as she spend a hundred bucks on her make-up!)
hollier9.jpg

This guy is going to be the biggest ladies man ever. He also loved to jump in front of my photos and pose!
hollier19.jpg

I love it when photos just work.. ahhh satisfaction..
hollier1.jpg

Rach looked a million bucks. at least!
hollier14.jpg

The very talented lady at Weddings Only (a florist in Tamworth) made this creation. I was in awe of her talent when I saw this. It’s a handbag made of leaves and roses. Wow… oh so talented.
hollier3.jpg

The nerves got to Elizabeth just as she was about to leave for the ceremony.
hollier8.jpg

Amazing dress, gorgeous flowers, perfect bride.. great storm clouds…
hollier18.jpg

One thing (of many) that I really admired about Rach was that she was always looking out for others on her wedding day. I just loved this moment when she was in the car, and her dad was about to get in.. and she outstretched her hand. I hope this brings a tear to at least 1 person’s eye.. because it nearly did to me.
hollier21.jpg

The emotion was flowing as Rach walked up the aisle with her father. On the right is Rach’s mum.
hollier10.jpg

I love mum and daughter moments.
hollier20.jpg

Then it was off to the Golden Guitar to take a few photos.. as Matt said.. you don’t get married in Tamworth without a shot in front of the Golden Guitar.
hollier12.jpg

Whilst we sipped champagne which Patrick brought. Patrick runs a wedding car business and he has Big Black London Taxis and they look freaking awesome.

Then we randomly decided to go to McDonalds which was just across the road. We got kicked out because of the champagne.. so we just sat outside instead. Notice the ice cream in the teeth.. all class!
hollier11.jpg

Popeye impersonation?
hollier13.jpg

Pose & Break - right guys?
hollier15.jpg

hollier17.jpg

Maybe one of my favourites from the day.
hollier4.jpg

& I just thought i’d tack this image on the end.. It made me laugh.

Thank you both for letting me hang out with you for the day. I would have shot it for free I had that much fun.

I got facebook

Wednesday, October 24th, 2007

Hey everyone! I got facebook. Yeah I know..It’s a big waste of time. But I had to sign up so I could see Lauren’s profile. So now I have it.. we may as well make it worthwhile. Add me to your friends.. I don’t know quite how it works, but my email is james@jamesday.com.au if that’s what you need, or my name is… doh.. you should know that already!

Oh, and i’m off to the doctor to find out what’s making me feel so darn unwell. Make sure to check back to find out what type of antibiotic they put me on. (isn’t that all doctor’s ever do?)

don’t forget- let’s be friends!

Ben & Kristy’s Wedding

Monday, October 22nd, 2007

The way two people look at each other moments after they realise the enormity of what marriage is, is one of the most precious times for me at a wedding. It doesnt happen at every wedding.. (or maybe I’m just not present to see it) but when it happens…there’s just a split second moment where our mind goes beyond the festivities & you can see the bride & groom really soaking up what they’ve just committed to. You see the big deep breath, the blink of the eye, and the eyes widen.. Ben & Kristy, I think you know what I mean.

The wedding was just outside of Coffs Harbour.. & Ben & Kristy both got ready at Friday Creek retreat & the ceremony and reception were at Bindarri Retreat and the celebrant was Gayle McCosker, who was absolutely delightful.

On another note, it was wonderful to have Antony Hands from North Coast Photography join me in being the second shooter. It was the perfect wedding for him to be joining me at.. as I had a bit of a niggle in my back (ok, major pain-subdued by pain killers) so I was able to take a break occasionally and let him work his magic. He’s such a joy to have around at a wedding.. He’s confident, he’s a perfectionist, and he’s a funny guy. check out his website at www.northcoastphotography.com.au

Ben & Kristy, thank you for letting me be a part of your journey through life.
Enjoy your honeymoon! ALOT!

Kristy looked simply amazing.
The lads.
I ran into this handsome man…

For some reason this guy was really fun to pick on throughout the day. So I thought i’d put up a nice little embarrassing photo of him.

A truly fun bridal party…

Smitten.
