welcome to james day photography

5 hours.15 minutes.
You can only begin to imagine my excitement knowing that a dream of mine for the past 2 years is about to come true. As most of you know, just over 2 years ago I met a GORGEOUS lady, who at that time resided in Canada. As of today, in 5 hours and 13 minutes, Lauren will be in Armidale, my home town, to live (until her visa expires and then we’ll see what happens next!).
Lauren has sacrificed alot to make this move, and for that I am truly amazed, and my love for her has just grown stronger. She has for the moment, left her family and friends and her polite and wonderful Canadian country for little old Armidale, and me.
Am I worthy? Nuh uh. Am I grateful. Yes Sir!

What will Lauren be doing here in Armidale I hear you ask. Lauren will be looking for work. Keep your ears to the ground and let us know if something super cool comes up.

I woke up at 5am this morning.. rather annoyed.. as it didn’t seem I would be able to get back to sleep.. & I’ve got a super busy day today, so I needed all the sleep I could get.. but then shortly after waking up…my blackberry went off with a facebook wall post from Rob and Lauren telling me that I’ve been blogified! -meaning that the shoot that they did of Lauren and I is now on their blog.
I was expecting good things from them, and I gave them a super hard time while they were shooting me. I did my random fake posing, I stuck my middle finger up at them alot..apparently there were enough photos from that for a full blog post.
I am so blown away with the results. What do you guys thing? Isn’t Lauren gorgeous! That isn’t a question… it’s a definite.

…of Lauren!
When I got back to Calgary today from my trip to Vancouver, I was showing her some of the photos I shot at the 2 engagement shoots I did when I was there.. then she asked about some of the photos that Perry took of us last week and asked if she could edit one of them.. She always watches me edit photos, so she’s got a fairly good idea but this one made me feel a little worried that she might take over my business and show me how it’s done when she moves back to Australia with me.

On Wednesday night, Lauren had her graduation! I was joking before with Lauren that the one time that she’s glad her boyfriend is a photographer is when she has her grad! She agreed…
It was great fun for me, as I got to take family photos for once that I actually wanted to be taking. My least favourite part of the day of most weddings is the family photos!

I also got to ride around in a Limo with Lauren and some of her friends and go around taking pictures. So… Lauren.. life is going to change, and things will even up for us a bit now that you’ve graduated, but it’s something that is so exciting! I know however that someday we will wish we were back here at this time in our lives when we’re young and relatively care free.

For those of you that don’t know.. Lauren is moving back to Australia with me at the end of my trip over here in Calgary, Canada. How exciting!!!

I have something very very crazyily cool happening this thursday, but I don’t want to announce it quite yet just in case it doesn’t eventuate. It’s looking like it will.. but just in case… check back later in the week for the evidence.

For now, enjoy the photos of Lauren’s grad, and get ready (in around 2 days) for some absolutely breathtaking images, and images you will not likely forget, from a huge Italian wedding this past Saturday that I shot with Perry Thompson and his team here in Calgary, Canada.

So my surprise.. (well one of them - & EVERYONE NO, I didn’t propose) Was that after Saturday’s wedding, I jumped in a car, drove to Brisbane, slept 4 hours, jumped on a plane to Sydney, from Sydney to Vancouver… and then Vancouver to Calgary! Now we all know that is where my gorgeous girlfriend Lauren lives until August! So it was her birthday, and so I decided to jump on an airplane and go surprise her! I actually beat her back home as she was in Montreal until later in the day. So here was her response when she sees me waiting for her at the airport.
I’m only here until wednesday night Canadian time, then I’ll be coming back home and will be back in Armidale on friday sometime.

The other news (surprise) is that I am actually launching a brand spanking new blog sometime very soon. It will be super dooper fast, much more fun.. and will include even shinier photos and have a new smell. Who knew that was possible?

I am sorry to everyone who has sent me emails.. and has waited for ever (like 2 days since I left OZ) to get a reply.. I’m working on it I promise!
