I’ve been totally slack with blogging. I have a new brand & project that will be launched before you can say “antidisestablishmentarianism”.. so about a week or two!

I’ve been saving up a few things for the new Journal that will be a part of that.. but I had to give you all something!

Here are some portrait shots that I took a few nights ago!!!

Jenny Nasmith!

Friday, August 8th, 2008

In August 2006, alot of you know that I spent around a month in New York City, staying all over the place.. at one point I even dared the hostels! When I stayed in the hostel, I met a swedish guy named Jonas. We ended up hanging out together.. seeing the sights of New York with a blonde haired blue eyed swedish… GUY! Oh well…
He then introduced me to Jenny who was from Toronto, but visiting Jonas in New York because Jonas and Jenny had met while on an exchange in Japan previously. Anyhow.. we all spent some time together… then off we all went to Toronto… I was totally random back then..nothing has changed. After going to Toronto, I decided to check out Calgary.. where I met my number 1, Lauren!
So.. on the way back from New York a few weeks ago, i decided to drop in on Jenny and her family and while I was there she asked me to do a shoot of her. Sweet!

We all know that I fully love my couple shoots.. but having something else thrown in the mix helps me keep it fresh.. Enjoy these images.. Edited using the new TRA2 and my own mix of stuff!

The Clark Family (in full - finally)

Wednesday, July 2nd, 2008

A few weeks ago now, I had the pleasure of hanging out with a very fine photographer by the name of Jason Clark, and his family which consists of him, his wife Canticle and his daughter Aurayliah who is nearly 2.
Now, I say I had the pleasure.. but I think if 5 minutes before I had the chance to back out, I think I might have. I’ll tell you why. Jason is a very accomplished photographer himself, as is Canticle, and most of you photographers would have heard of Jesh De Rox, who is Canticle’s brother. Lots of pressure! (so I thought)
Within minutes of getting into the shoot, I was completely relaxed, and just in my normal rhythm.

Enjoy these images, soak in the wonder that is a young family. Oh what an enviable position to be in.

love you all. all you love.

THE Clark Family

Thursday, June 26th, 2008

Just a very sneaky little peek from a shoot which I have just started editing. Such a fun, quick shoot that I will never forget. I will share more tomorrow about this! (Edited to add: Might be another 24 hours for this one as I decided to work on something else that was quick to do instead- You know.. being on holidays, it’s harder to get things done! arggh!)

Oh, and by the way, photographers- I need your help. I am so totally over photoshop’s save for web and would love it if somoene could give me a hand before I post the rest of these images. Even if I save them at a super high quality in SFW, it still loses some of the colour. I normally let it go as it’s not being printed or going in an album, but I’m about sick of it! Any ideas?

Rob & Lauren (photographers - who I shot!)

Monday, June 16th, 2008

I’ve just returned from 3 days hanging out with Rob & Lauren, who are some wickedly awesome photographers in edmonton, Canada. While I was there, they asked if I’d like to do a little portrait shoot of them. They’re a super cute couple, who I think everyone is waiting to get married. They have a super successful wedding photography business here in Canada and shoot lots of Indian Weddings. That recently lead them to India for something called “The Wedding Travellers” & you all should check out their website to see more about it!

This is also the first shoot where I felt like my life could have been in danger. A drunk or stoned guy on the side of the street came up to us and started to pick a fight because we were photographing in “his area” and we were “liars” and creating “propoganda”. I guess it didn’t help when I invited him to “lie with us”. He reached for something in his back pocket and we fled.

Also while I was there, they also organised a bit of a lunch, and I met up with a few other photographers at that as well. Michael, Chris and Jason.. it was great to meet you/see you again!

Whilst I was there, I also did another wickedly fun, absolutely nuts, crazy fun shoot, which I will share later in the week. Just wait till you see who it was!

Also, I want to show you something that made me teary. This is THE MOST IMPRESSIVE wedding video demo I have ever seen. These guys make me want a wedding video. This is by the crew at Still Motion here in Canada The section with the vows make me take those big deep breaths that I get every time I am about to cry.

Other news: I miss my mum and family back home in Armidale :-(

Also, I apologise to anyone who is waiting to hear back from me in an email. I have been absolutely inundated with emails from photographers as well as wedding enquiries from all over! I will reply to EVERYONE in due course.

It seems that we have a huge new group of people reading the Journal. I checked the stats and the figures have nearly doubled in the last few weeks. I will make a “hello video” for you all this week to introduce myself.

But for now……(drum roll please)… enjoy these spectacular images.

To see more, head over to my website where you will be able to view the full collection. The password is “roblauren”.
