Chris & Karen (wedding)

Wednesday, November 19th, 2008

Chris contacted me whilst I was in Canada, and started asking me all about my camera and my gear… I could tell he was into photography, then asked me if I was available to shoot his wedding a few months down the track. Because someone changed their wedding date, I was free on that date at such short notice!

I made the mistake of trying to shoot Chris and Karen’s engagement shoot the day I returned from Canada at the end of August. I got  half way into it and was near ready to collapse, so next time I was in Sydney, we did a bit more.. it was cool because we got such different stuff the second time around. I’ll share those engagement pics in the next week or so!

Lauren came with me to shoot this wedding, no doubt she got some amazing shots, but truth be told, I haven’t loaded her card yet onto the computer. I might do a post with just shots that she took next week also. She really is impressing me with how much she is picking up! My girlfriend is awesome :-)

The Wedding was unique in many ways, but the memory that may stand out the most for me is that there was a blackout in Inverell during the reception, and the kitchen staff needed to borrow my video light so they could see the steaks they were trying to cook with their gas stoves.

Well folks, enjoy the photos of Chris and Karen and stay tuned for soooo much more this week.

p.s. I’m getting rather tired of this blog! I can’t even get the images to load in any order and then the thumbnails jumping around below… grrr.. stick with me though folks, things will be changed! I have spoken to so many of you who just find this new blog so annoying. I hear you!

Meegan & Clint (wedding)

Tuesday, November 18th, 2008

I met Meegan probably almost a few years ago now when she contacted me, asking if I could help her learn more about photography. I told Meegan about my real wedding day training, and she asked if she could take me up on the offer! Meegan came along to a few weddings, and also came to Armidale for some photoshop training, then eventually asked if I would photograph her wedding!

So, recently, I photographed her wedding and what a blast it was! I was in tears during her daughters words in the ceremony…along with everyone else in attendance.

Enjoy the photos!

Lisa & Luke’s Wedding (post 3 of 3 today!)

Friday, November 7th, 2008

Ok, to finish off this marathon, I left the best till last. I  am so proud of these images, so blessed to have been part of a day that brought tears to my eyes on many occasions, and so happy that I got to share it with Lauren.

Lauren took some of the shots below too. Once again, if you mouse over the thumbnails you’ll be able to see the caption for the shots.

Lisa & Luke’s wedding was held in Kempsey and the reception was at the South West Rocks Surt Club. Amazing locations and people all day! It was such a dream.

Enjoy the photos! I’m sure you will!

Julia & Mick (hunter valley wedding)

Tuesday, November 4th, 2008

Upon returning from Hawaii, the next day (friday) Lauren and I travelled to the Hunter Valley to photograph Julia & Mick’s Wedding, and what a wedding it was. It would have to go down in the history books as one of the most exquisite locations for a wedding ceremony and reception.

The flowers were absolutely perfect, thanks to the team at Floral Affects and Event Hire, the Celebrant Philip Greentree did a really cool scottish themed ceremony, with the traditional hand tying with a ribbon and the reception was perfectly coordinated by Megan from Roberts Restaurant.

Lauren actually took some of the photos below. If you mouse over the thumbnail, a text box will appear with the info about the shot.. and the ones that Lauren took will have her credited!

Julia and Mick, thanks for a fun day together, and I’m really looking forward to getting in and designing your wedding album this week. I’ve looked through all the shots and they’re looking awesome!

Richard & Kristi (married in Maui, Hawaii)

Friday, October 31st, 2008

On a gorgeous day, with a light layer of cloud, on the Island of Maui, in Hawaii, Richard & Kristi tied the knot. This cute couple is from Vancouver in Canada, and work in the animation industry.. do you remember Yakkity Yak? Richard was involved in making that!

I kept hearing comments throughout the day about how long Kristi had been waiting for this day. You could tell that there was so much excitement for both of them that had been building up over the years. I felt so privileged to be flown in to shoot their gorgeous Hawaii wedding.

It was a very intimate wedding with just the closest friends and family attending. Kristi got her hair and make up done at the Westin Spa at the Westin Maui, and got ready there in her hotel room. Richard got ready at the Ka’anapali Beach Hotel, which is the same hotel I was staying at and was this awesome Hawaiian themed hotel. It was a blast to stay there.

After the ceremony on the beach, the 15 of us went to a Luau, which is basically a big Hawaiian themed BBQ and show.

I got a bit sunburnt while laying on the beach and by the pool on the day before the wedding.. and had the time of my life when I went Parasailing! I never imagined it would be THAT much fun. If you’re ever in Maui, there’s a restaurant you need to check out, and it’s called Kimo’s, on front street. Incredible tasty food and fab service. On a side note, you’ll be happy to know that I had Canada Dry while I was away..but then forgot to bring some back for later. DOH!

Kristi and Richard.. it almost seems silly to thank you in writing for having Lauren and I come to Maui to shoot your wedding. I just want to give you a huge hug, and look you in the eye and give you both a HUGE kiss. You guys are awesome!
