Sally & Ben (wedding in coffs harbour)

20 Jan 2009

I’m sitting here with my nephew Christopher, who is 8 for one more day.. tomorrow he turns 9!!! Christopher had a sleep over, and I thought i’d show him how I update my blog, as he is one of my blog readers. Yay!

I’m here of course, to present to you a small selection of Sally & Ben’s Weddings Photos. It’s with great joy that I do so, because Sally is one of my friends whom I have known for many years.

Sally & Ben were married at LifeHouse Church in Coffs Harbour, which is a very very cool church! I always love visiting there when I’m in Coffs. They give out bottles of water which have a label on them that have a graphic illustration of “God”, and text reading “I created water”, - God. Very clever!

Ben & Sally’s wedding was full of emotion. It’s definitely evident in these images, but also in the video that Matt from Shadowplay filmed. He is potentially the first Australian to shoot a wedding video in Australia fully on the 5d2 Canon Camera. Go on over to his blog to see the video.

I watched it so many times… I know you will too! I was telling Matt that my style of photography videos well because I keep people active and having fun. I couldn’t let Matt’s head get too big so I had to take some credit.

I’ll sign off and let you enjoy these gorgeous photos.

JD & Chris.

  2. Awesome work James. Ben and I are impressed as usual. I honestly cannot imagine ever having anyone but you shoot for us. Beach shot is fantastic. Love the bridal party huddle too, even though it swallowed up a flowergirl, groomsman and bridesmaid!

Samuel & Olivia E-Shoot (photo & video)

12 Jan 2009

*just thought i’d write this quick note letting everyone know that I think there is something weird going on with the comments box below? Please try and leave a comment, but I’m sorry in advance if it doesn’t work. Thanks to everyone who has facebooked me or emailled me with their comments instead*

Samuel & Olivia are 2 very awesome people who were up for anything.

So, when my 5d Mark 2 Camera (that shoots photos and video) arrived half an hour before their engagement shoot, I decided to take a chance and give photo and video a go. I love surprising clients.

There are some very impressive new videos out there showing off this camera and it’s video capabilities, my only problem with them is that they have all been with professional models, in controlled conditions, lighting, assistants.. plenty of time.. and without having to shoot images at the same time.

So what happens when a photographer picks up a camera and does photo and video by themselves? Check out the results below.

The video was all shot by me, and edited in free software, iMovie HD, by Matt Ebenezer from shadowplay…matt makes me look awesome with his great video editing. Thank you!

Make sure you check out the Shadowplay blog for a much better written evaluation of the camera and experience, and also Katie’s awesome shots from her second shooting role. Thanks to Lydia Cole for allowing us to use her song!

Here’s the video

Ever wondered what a whole JD wedding looks like?

4 Jan 2009

Here’s your chance!

Today I’d like to share with you Steph & Dan’s Wedding Collection!

To see the photos, go to www.jamesday.com.au then enter the website, then enter “princess” in the client access box. That will show you a slideshow of the images. If you have really slow internet, or would just like another option, you can go to www.jamesday.com.au/shop and you can browse the gallery in a different, faster way, but not quite as fancy.

A big thank you to Steph and Dan for agreeing to have the password shared with everyone. They’re obviously proud of their photos!

JD

p.s. If you want me to do this more often, then give me some comment love and show me how much you enjoyed it!

Do you own an Iphone?

30 Dec 2008

If you do, then check out this cool little accessory that I got for Christmas. I used to have problems with my iPhone battery lasting just 1 day..but not anymore. It’s called a Mophie Juice Pack, and I’m so glad to have it!

Mophie

This is just a little tip for you..and I’ll try and do more video blogging now that I have worked out how to do it directly from my computer.
