I’ve been totally slack with blogging. I have a new brand & project that will be launched before you can say “antidisestablishmentarianism”.. so about a week or two!

I’ve been saving up a few things for the new Journal that will be a part of that.. but I had to give you all something!

Here are some portrait shots that I took a few nights ago!!!

Greg & Ali (armidale wedding)

Thursday, February 19th, 2009

So as not to cause a distraction from the awesomeness that was Greg & Ali’s Wedding.. I will definitely talk about that first.. but make sure you scroll down and keep reading as there will be lots more quicy info to share!

Greg & Ali turned up to their first meeting with me with both their mums. I knew this was a great sign.. I knew that this would be a great group of guys to work with.. and a wedding that I was very excited about being the photographer for.

The weather really was one thing that stood out.. it rained pretty solid the whole day.. but rather than that getting anyone down.. I think it actually improved the experience. It’s funny how these things happen.

The day started off with me heading out to the boys.. at Greg’s parents place.. a little out of town. Then off to the girls who were staying at the executive oasis apartments in town. The wedding was held at St Ursulines Chapel, next to the main Catholic Cathedral in Armidale. When I looked at the shot of the Chapel I knew there was something very special about it.. but since then I’ve found out that this is the last wedding that will ever be held in that chapel. WOW! The nuns who run the chapel are leaving, so there will be nun left to run it :-)

The bridal party photos were taken inside the nuns house next to the chapel, as well as a family friend of the grooms family’s house. Thank you!

We then went on to the reception out of town on “The Selection”, which is a part of Greg’s families property. There was a gorgeous marquee and was catered by Jazzamatazz.

They went on to party through till 4am I believe. I definitely believe it!

THE END..

…but not quite. An interesting thing happened on the way to the wedding. I was pulled over by a policeman who informed me that my drivers licence was suspended, my car rego was cancelled and I was in big trouble. HUH? I was totally flabbergastered! Anyhow.. to cut a long story short..I had an overdue parking fine from Feb 08..which I didn’t realise wasn’t paid.. and one thing lead to another and this all happened without me realising it. I never saw any letters or knew anything about this until he pulled me over. You can imagine how shocked I was when he told me I had been driving illegally since July 08. I’ve driven in the USA, Canada and every day here in OZ with no idea! The policeman was very gracious and let me off any charges as he understood that I had no idea. I now have my licence and rego again.. but boy what a drama!

Enjoy the photos!

p.s. I’m really looking forward to getting a new blog. This one is driving me crazy!!! The photos are always out of order!!! I’ve tried contacting the developer, but they don’t reply! If you read this.. email me dude!

Mitchell’s First Day of School

Saturday, January 31st, 2009

Yesterday, Mitchell had his first day of school! Mitchell is my little nephew.. he’s a little shy.. ok he’s alot shy.. and to get these photos of him was rather miraculous! I turned up at his school to watch him start his first day of school… choose his locker (he chose the locker with a picture of balloons on it) and meet his new classmates.

I was reminded of the importance of having photographs at special occasions.. I remember so vivdly my first day of school.. and holding on to my daddy oh so tight and asking him never to leave. I remember sitting on the metal seats outside the classroom, snuggling into him..and I really wish I had a photo of this moment. My dad passed away when I was 14 from a brain tumour…photos of my dad and I are so special, especially considering there aren’t very many. Dad was always behind the camera and wasn’t in enough photos at all.

It really was a blessing to be able to be a part of Mitchell’s first day of school and to relive some old memories that are so dear to me.

Until next time.

Stephanie and Daniel (wedding)

Sunday, December 7th, 2008

“Tell her she’s pretty even if she looks like a truck”. This is something I’ll never forget. This is also something that Daniel will never need to remember.

Every wedding is special, but there was a special something about this one, perhaps it was the outwardly visible love that Stephanie and Daniel had for each other, or the loving support network they had there to celebrate their wedding with them.. or perhaps both? Whatever it was, this was a wedding I’ll never forget.

Steph looked like a princess. I don’t mean that in a way where you say it to compliment someone, I mean she LOOKED LIKE A PRINCESS! I could have quite easily been photograhing royalty. Daniel was looking quite dapper, but didn’t look like a princess :-)

Daniel & Steph met nearly 4 years ago, when Daniel was Steph’s R.A. at college. Dan picked Steph out as his, and soon enough she fell for him.  They’ve been through alot together, and these best buds are so in love that nothing could break them apart.

Everyone has been asking me about these photos.. well here they are folks. There will be another post going up with photos from the CRAZYBOOTH! Just you wait!

Thanks Steph, Dan and both your families for having me be a part of this celebration of your new life together.

p.s. It really upsets me when people come and go without leaving a comment! Comments show me that people are enjoying the photos, and it’s a well known fact that if we get enough comments, I often do another post with more photos form that wedding! Win/Win!
