On Saturday I travelled down to Tamworth to photograph the wedding of Matt & Bec. They were recommended to me from past clients Jake & Casey who were married in Glen Innes last year.
If someone can let me know the business name that did the flowers, the business name that did the hair and make-up then i’d be happy to give them a plug too! Leave me a comment, and i’ll edit this blog post to include them…
I had Rachel Meszaros come along to learn a few things about wedding photography, and to help carry my bags (as a broken rib isn’t the best thing to have when shooting a wedding). Rachel has put some photos on her PHOTOBLOG. I’d recommend going to check it out.. she got some fantastic photos! Make sure you leave her some comments too because she is such a sweetie and keep an eye on her work.. as she’s going to be giving me photography tips one day… I have high hopes for her!!!!!
As mentioned previously, I offer wedding day training for $200 for the day, where basically you come along and I show you all the ins and outs of wedding photography. With Rach, we even had time to talk about branding, marketing, and pricing. If you’re a photographer and would like some 1 on 1 training with JD, then email me.
The boys always seemed to have a beer in their hands, but never seemed drunk! Nice skill you boys have there…
The day was full of emotion, and everyone knew it was a day that Bec’s dad would love to have been a part of. Bec’s dad passed away a few years ago, but he was definitely there through the people that kept him in their memories, and also, as a very nice touch, Bec had a photo of him attached to her bouquet. When they were attaching it to the bouquet, it was a time when I felt so privileged to be capturing it for them.
Bec’s dress was simple and elegant and fit her absolutely perfectly!
The flower girl & junior bridesmaids were so much fun. They kept thinking of different things I could photograph them doing.
I just loved the moment after I took this photo, I showed Bec the back of the camera and how amazing she was looking, and it looked as though it took her breath away!
Bec is a real romantic and bought this pocket watch for Matt which was a gift for him for their wedding day. You could see that everytime he pulled it out of his jacket pocket to check the time he looked so happy.
The photo after this is really cool.. but I’m going to keep it for Bec and her mum as a special image just for them.. As mentioned earlier, there is a photo of Bec’s dad attached to her bouquet, and the pic after this shows the most extraordinary image of what I can’t help but think of as Bec’s dad walking her down the aisle. It almost brought a tear to my eye when I looked at it.
I decided to run a photography seminar in the middle of the ceremony.. so I brought along all my assistants and was training them how to get a good registry signing shot
Ok.. maybe that’s not true…
We went to Calala Cottage in Tamworth to do the location shoot.
What a fun bunch of girls.
Yep, another beer.. but still no signs of being drunk.
My new best friend, the flowergirl Lilly!
A bit of moody romantic stuff going on here..
One of my favourite’s. I am a bit wacky though..
It was awesome to have Rachel Meszaros join me for the day. She tells me she learnt a lot. Rachel has just kicked off her photography business in Inverell.
Um.. yep.. a bit weird. But fun nonetheless!
Matt & Bec, all the best for your married life together. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for letting me share your special day with you. You two are definitely on the Christmas card list. I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know you throughout this whole experience, and I know that there will be many more occasions where we get to see each other.
Also thank you to Jake and Casey who recommended me to Bec & Matt. It was great to catch up with you both again.. and Jake.. you are an absolute crack up. But, you do think I’m gay don’t you?
