Amber & Scott (wedding)

Sunday, December 14th, 2008

“You look beautiful darling” This is what Scott said as Amber approached him as they were about to be married.

Amber & Scott’s perfect day was held at the Pavillion function centre, in Tamworth. My iphone weather app was telling me to expect a huge storm, but Amber had been praying so hard, that nothing could get in the way of Amber and Scott’s perfect wedding.

Amber & Scott had a marvellous group of people around them to help celebrate their marriage, even the guy that liked to whip my butt with his tie every time I walked past. :-)

It was such a joy to witness the way Amber & Scott revel in each other, and being privileged enough to be with them with a camera in hand whilst this happened.

Amber & Scott, I wish you all the best in your married life together, and can’t wait to have you in the studio for your PREMIERE of your wedding collection!

Brock & Sandy’s Wedding

Friday, October 24th, 2008

Last saturday I had the absolutely awesome pleasure of being Brock and Sandy’s wedding photographer. I have done photography for Brock before as he is a well known performer who needed photographs for his portfolio. Brock has an incredible talent with his guitar and voice and I can’t wait to see him perform live.. I’ve only ever seen him on TV!

Brock and Sandy met a few years back at one of the tamworth pub’s, where Sandy was a bar tender. She impressed him with her cartwheels across the bar after she finished her shift. Quite impressive!

Brock and Sandy - I hope you are having an amazing time in W.A. on your honeymoon. I can’t wait to show you your wedding album design, it’s done already!

Enjoy the photos!

Bec & Matt’s Wedding

Monday, October 1st, 2007

On Saturday I travelled down to Tamworth to photograph the wedding of Matt & Bec. They were recommended to me from past clients Jake & Casey who were married in Glen Innes last year.

If someone can let me know the business name that did the flowers, the business name that did the hair and make-up then i’d be happy to give them a plug too! Leave me a comment, and i’ll edit this blog post to include them…

I had Rachel Meszaros come along to learn a few things about wedding photography, and to help carry my bags (as a broken rib isn’t the best thing to have when shooting a wedding). Rachel has put some photos on her PHOTOBLOG. I’d recommend going to check it out.. she got some fantastic photos! Make sure you leave her some comments too because she is such a sweetie and keep an eye on her work.. as she’s going to be giving me photography tips one day… I have high hopes for her!!!!!

As mentioned previously, I offer wedding day training for $200 for the day, where basically you come along and I show you all the ins and outs of wedding photography. With Rach, we even had time to talk about branding, marketing, and pricing. If you’re a photographer and would like some 1 on 1 training with JD, then email me.

The boys always seemed to have a beer in their hands, but never seemed drunk! Nice skill you boys have there…

The day was full of emotion, and everyone knew it was a day that Bec’s dad would love to have been a part of. Bec’s dad passed away a few years ago, but he was definitely there through the people that kept him in their memories, and also, as a very nice touch, Bec had a photo of him attached to her bouquet. When they were attaching it to the bouquet, it was a time when I felt so privileged to be capturing it for them.

Bec’s dress was simple and elegant and fit her absolutely perfectly!

The flower girl & junior bridesmaids were so much fun. They kept thinking of different things I could photograph them doing.

I just loved the moment after I took this photo, I showed Bec the back of the camera and how amazing she was looking, and it looked as though it took her breath away!

Bec is a real romantic and bought this pocket watch for Matt which was a gift for him for their wedding day. You could see that everytime he pulled it out of his jacket pocket to check the time he looked so happy.

The photo after this is really cool.. but I’m going to keep it for Bec and her mum as a special image just for them.. As mentioned earlier, there is a photo of Bec’s dad attached to her bouquet, and the pic after this shows the most extraordinary image of what I can’t help but think of as Bec’s dad walking her down the aisle. It almost brought a tear to my eye when I looked at it.

I decided to run a photography seminar in the middle of the ceremony.. so I brought along all my assistants and was training them how to get a good registry signing shot :-) Ok.. maybe that’s not true…

We went to Calala Cottage in Tamworth to do the location shoot.

What a fun bunch of girls.

Yep, another beer.. but still no signs of being drunk.

My new best friend, the flowergirl Lilly!

A bit of moody romantic stuff going on here..

One of my favourite’s. I am a bit wacky though..

It was awesome to have Rachel Meszaros join me for the day. She tells me she learnt a lot. Rachel has just kicked off her photography business in Inverell.

Um.. yep.. a bit weird. But fun nonetheless!

Matt & Bec, all the best for your married life together. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for letting me share your special day with you. You two are definitely on the Christmas card list. I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know you throughout this whole experience, and I know that there will be many more occasions where we get to see each other.
Also thank you to Jake and Casey who recommended me to Bec & Matt. It was great to catch up with you both again.. and Jake.. you are an absolute crack up. But, you do think I’m gay don’t you? :-)

Chloe & Allan

Sunday, August 5th, 2007

Chloe & Allan got married yesterday at the Catholic Church in Tamworth, with the reception at Gregory’s on Goonoo Goonoo. I try and find something unique about every wedding I photograph, & I’d have to say the thing that stood out the most was that the guests were so much fun!
I enjoyed having so much creative control. Chloe and Allan completely trusted me and my decisions about what to photograph. It’s something that I’ve been noticing more and more.. my clients are letting go and giving me control. Lauren says that I’m a control freak, but I think it’s just nice when people recognise that you’re a professional and that you’ve got a pretty decent idea what you’re doing. At one point yesterday, Chloe said to Lauren, “I feel silly doing some of the things that James asks me to do, but then I look at the pictures and it’s all worth it.”
It was such a cool experience getting to shoot Chloe and Allan’s Wedding, they’re a great fun couple.
Oh, and Chloe’s mum has the most amazing long eyelashes! Woah!

Rachael & Shane’s Wedding

Tuesday, March 13th, 2007

I sometimes wish I was a tamworth wedding photographer (this line is just there for google juice). There are so many great locations there for gorgeous photos. The Pavillion Function Centre is an ideal location for weddings & my hat goes off to them for the amazing way that they look after the guests (and the photographer).
I arrived in tamworth at around 12:30 and didn’t need to meet with Rachael until around 1, So I decided to go and have a sticky at the reception venue. Oh wow did the room look amazing or what. I met the gorgeous Julie who owns the business with her husband. She showed me around the picturesque location and I knew that It was going to be a gorgeous location for a wedding.. It made me think of how i’d like my wedding one day…
So I went to see Rachael and the girls and they were having a great time getting ready…no one seemed too stressed… until I got to the boys.. It’s usually the other way around!
The rest of the day was just magical. The bridal party were really good fun. I got some kick ass shots throughout the day. I’m sure you’ll agree.
Speaking of Kicking ass.. the cake was freakin’ gorgeous! It tasted sensational too.
Rachael and Shane’s son Jack and I are now good mates.. and because he was the coolest kid ever to photograph on saturday I promised him a Macca’s meal. I think he deserved it.
Also, I can’t wait to do our photoshoot with Brooke (their daughter). We’re going to be scheduling in something for later in the year..Brooke is amazingly photogenic!

Enjoy the photos, and if you love them, please recommend me to people who are getting married. You can rest assured I will look after them!
