Richard & Kristi (married in Maui, Hawaii)

Friday, October 31st, 2008

On a gorgeous day, with a light layer of cloud, on the Island of Maui, in Hawaii, Richard & Kristi tied the knot. This cute couple is from Vancouver in Canada, and work in the animation industry.. do you remember Yakkity Yak? Richard was involved in making that!

I kept hearing comments throughout the day about how long Kristi had been waiting for this day. You could tell that there was so much excitement for both of them that had been building up over the years. I felt so privileged to be flown in to shoot their gorgeous Hawaii wedding.

It was a very intimate wedding with just the closest friends and family attending. Kristi got her hair and make up done at the Westin Spa at the Westin Maui, and got ready there in her hotel room. Richard got ready at the Ka’anapali Beach Hotel, which is the same hotel I was staying at and was this awesome Hawaiian themed hotel. It was a blast to stay there.

After the ceremony on the beach, the 15 of us went to a Luau, which is basically a big Hawaiian themed BBQ and show.

I got a bit sunburnt while laying on the beach and by the pool on the day before the wedding.. and had the time of my life when I went Parasailing! I never imagined it would be THAT much fun. If you’re ever in Maui, there’s a restaurant you need to check out, and it’s called Kimo’s, on front street. Incredible tasty food and fab service. On a side note, you’ll be happy to know that I had Canada Dry while I was away..but then forgot to bring some back for later. DOH!

Kristi and Richard.. it almost seems silly to thank you in writing for having Lauren and I come to Maui to shoot your wedding. I just want to give you a huge hug, and look you in the eye and give you both a HUGE kiss. You guys are awesome!

Brock & Sandy’s Wedding

Friday, October 24th, 2008

Last saturday I had the absolutely awesome pleasure of being Brock and Sandy’s wedding photographer. I have done photography for Brock before as he is a well known performer who needed photographs for his portfolio. Brock has an incredible talent with his guitar and voice and I can’t wait to see him perform live.. I’ve only ever seen him on TV!

Brock and Sandy met a few years back at one of the tamworth pub’s, where Sandy was a bar tender. She impressed him with her cartwheels across the bar after she finished her shift. Quite impressive!

Brock and Sandy - I hope you are having an amazing time in W.A. on your honeymoon. I can’t wait to show you your wedding album design, it’s done already!

Enjoy the photos!

Rebecca & Ross

Tuesday, October 7th, 2008

On a day full of red g-strings (on the guys, not the girls), fun and frivolity, with a bit of sun.. a bit of rain.. a bit of wind.. but A LOT of love, Rebecca and Ross were married.

Everyone who’s seen me in action at a wedding, knows that I have an almost unhealthy amount of fun while I’m shooting, but I know that in general life is more fun when you share it with someone. That’s why, as I drove into Newcastle, I logged into facebook on my phone and changed my status to “thought I’d invite you to carry my bags at a wedding in newcastle tomorrow at an awesome wedding. first to call gets it! 0410553686″. Within minutes the phone was ringing off the hook, but the first to call was Cathy Crawley, from Beautiful Moments Photography in Sydney. She called up all excited asking if she could be in on the action.. and sure enough, the next day there she was. My apologies to everyone else who was unable to join me, It might have been a bit weird having 6 people photographing. Cathy put the photos on her blog already, so you should check out her great shots!

Bec and Ross, thanks so much for having us come along and shoot your wedding. It seriously was a blast. It’s so good to work with people who you are totally 100% in SYNC with when it comes to the images we both desire to create. THANKYOU!

Trish and Scott

Tuesday, September 30th, 2008

I will never ever forget this wedding. I knew leading up to this wedding that it was going to be a special one, because of 2 things I was aware of.
1. Trish and Scott’s inspiring love for each other.
2. Scott has recently had operations for cancer, and I belive the prognosis after those is good! A couple can’t go through this kind of hardship without bringing them closer. There were jokes flying around about how skinny he was, but how amazing he looked, even if only for the smile on his face, which he showed off the whole day.
After Trish and Scott walked back down the aisle as husband and wife, I walked towards Scott and shook his hand and congratulated him…and his focus the whole time was on his gorgeous wife, and he was so eager to tell me how amazing his wife looked and how pleased he is. I wish there was a videographer at this wedding.. they would have had a field day with all the genuine love and emotion going on!
During the speeches, I sat there thinking Scott would be a great mate to have. Seriously Scott, we’re going out for a beer ASAP! When I met with Trish to talk when she booked me, we ended up sitting in a cafe until it closed, and then moved on to the next cafe. So I guess that shows how much I enjoy their company!

I hope I’ve done this wedding justice in these photos. I love your comments, so please leave me some love!

Kerrie & Dave (wedding)

Saturday, September 27th, 2008

Kerrie and Dave’s Wedding will always be known as the awesome lighthouse wedding to me. Not to overshadow the union itself, but the lighthouse where the wedding took place was simply breathtaking. It was held at the Norah Beach Lighthouse, at the Central Coast, on a cool wednesday afternoon.

It was so good to work with a great bunch of wedding professionals. Carolyn Manners did the flowers, Jarred Rogers from Central Coast Limousines drove the cars, Kerrie Miller and the team from ANL Airbrushing did the hair and make up, and Tony Lott was the professional MC with his DJ Anastasia, and last but not least Jane Ashmore Gray as the Marriage Celebrant.
