Michelle & Dave

Wednesday, September 24th, 2008

To describe Michelle’s mood before she was married as “excited”, would be a total understatement. In Michelle’s eyes, she was marrying the world’s most awesome guy. Therefore you can imagine the mood was electric in the lead up to the wedding.

Then the ceremony itself.. Michelle couldn’t take her eyes off Dave the whole time. Everytime I looked over, there she was, her short and petite frame, gazing up at her new husband Dave, with a smile so radiant, the midday sun seemed dim in comparison. Numerous times, Michelle was seen pumping her fists in the air, making some sort of gesture to show her excitement.

Dave’s speech put a smile on everyone’s face, and a tear to everyone’s eye, as he explained that he knew from early on that she was the woman that he would marry, and how having her in his life, his life has improved and she has shown him new and better ways. (I know how you feel Dave)

I wish you both the best in life, and can’t wait to show you this wedding album that I’ve almost finished already!

Enjoy Hawaii and New York.

Bek Ding came along with me for the day, and she got some wicked shots! They even wowed me.. and you all know how critical I can be. I will share these when she sends them through! In the next few days no doubt.

& Yes, I will be blogging every day for a month from today! & Yes Cathy, I totally got the idea from Jessica Claire’s blog.

p.s. Check this out. I came across this quirky engagement session about 10 minutes ago and it’s totally crazy. There is a bit of sort of nudity, so if you don’t like seeing bare bums, stay away.

Alex & Danika

Sunday, August 31st, 2008

On Alex’s grandparents 50th Wedding Anniversary, Alex and his new wife Danika were married. I am so happy for both of these people who I consider extremely close friends. I met Alex when I was 18, and I applied for a job at the photography studio he worked at. We actually grew up in the same church, but I ignored him because I thought he was a TAS boy, (a private school in armidale) and I had a thing against them. Turned out I was totally wrong, he was homeschooled and actually an awesome bloke. There’s a lesson against being prejudiced!
I am lying here in bed, nursing extremely sore feet and legs, meanwhile considering how I have such a special role in being the story teller of Alex & Danika’s wedding day.
This was a special day for me for so many reasons. Firstly I had the pleasure of hanging out with some of my most favourite people on the entire planet, also I had the pleasure of having a gorgeous young lady to glance over at for most of the day.. none other than Lauren, who was also a guest at the wedding.

Matt & Katie from Shadowplay also travelled from Toowoomba to hang out with me for the day.. and are actually hanging around for a few days to film a promotional piece for my new blog! Which is so so so nearly ready. These guys have my full adoration!

I know there are quite literally hundreds of people who are just itching to see these photos, and so I am going to have a power trip and make you wait. I am going to put up a few photos every day for the next few days.. and draw it out a little.. Oh come on.. it will be fun!

The starting date of the Smog Games, and also the wedding date of Thu & Kelly here in Calgary.
For the last time this year, I shot another wedding with Perry. It was really sad to leave! Perry is a generous, loving, amazing guy, who has been a great source of inspiration, a great friend, allowing me to stay at his studio (which has a bedroom set up!) and shoot weddings with him while I’ve been here.

Thu and Kelly were married at the Delta Hotel in downtown Calgary, with their proud families and supportive friends there to make it official! Thanks for letting me hang with you guys for the day.

I was only in attendance for some of the day, but they had a tea ceremony that Perry shot (I’m so jealous!) and they wore their traditional chinese outfits. Then they had an outfit change, & into the outfits you will see them in here. After the formals, then it was time for the ceremony. I left Perry as the reception started, and he tells me that it was quite a party!

Rachelle & Mike (with Michael Shandro)

Saturday, August 9th, 2008

They met on a blind date. Mike hid as he walked into the restaurant, took a good look at her before he let her see him, and said to himself, “She’s hot”.. and took a seat.
Now they’re married!

Michael Shandro invited me to Edmonton to shoot with him for the day and boy did we have fun. Second shooting is always difficult.. finding that fine line between taking over, and just being plain useless. We both decided to take turns.. and just share the shooting.. and it made for a creative, non stop fun day for us and the client.

I shot a wedding today with Perry… on a very special date in history.. 08 08 08. I’ll share those pics with you tomorrow! Also.. today I just felt like I “oh ate, oh ate, oh ate”…I need to go for a run tomorrow I think!
