Hope

I know what it’s like being in business, it’s tough. There are new challenges daily, but I want other people to know that there’s always a group of people out there fighting for you.

Just knowing this can make all the difference.

In 2003 when I decided I wanted to make wedding photography my full time gig I reached out to a photographer that I admired. Someone that I wanted to be like some day. I remember calling him and asking him if I could help him out at his studio, for free. A week later I found myself in Melbourne, living in his state of the art studio and soaking up all the knowledge I possibly could. At 19, this was an incredible leg up.

Having someone in your corner can change your entire perspective.

Just two years prior to this, in year 10, I had a fill in teacher pull me aside at the end of class and tell me I should consider leaving school as I was wasting my time there.

Shortly before this happened, the usual teacher of that class told me that she could see me being successful in business, living in a wonderful home at the top of a hill and being married to a beautiful lady. I never forgot that.

One of the teachers gave me hope, and the other made me feel hopeless.

So why am I telling you these things? I’m all about giving people hope, especially in their area of passion and business. I’ve learned a lot in my years as a photographer; about taking photos, interacting and connecting with people, running a business and even more about myself.

I love to inspire and move people through stories and photographs. I wear my heart on my sleeve and I love to make a difference.

So, I don’t want to keep what I’ve learned to myself.

If I can make a difference in your world or business by sharing some of the things I’ve learned, I’m all for that!

If you’ve got a question about business that I might be able to answer, leave a comment below and let me know what you’d like to learn from me. I may even be able to answer some of these in future emails or blog posts. I look forward to hearing from you!

Kind regards,

– James

P.S. If you’re in the Melbourne area, don’t forget to check out my upcoming workshop where I’ll be able to share even more with you in person! Click here for more info.
